Posted Sunday, December 14, 2008 by John Fatuzzo
The awards for the 2008 CHSFL regular season have recently been announced, and St. John's is proud to say that seven different players are representing SJB in these prestigious titles.

Senior lineman Guy Lindner became the second ever recipient of the AA/A Lineman of the Year Award.  Guy, a powerul force at the line of scrimmage game-in and game-out was selected to the All-League first time for the second consecutive season.

Senior quarterback Matt Pryzby also was selected to the CHSFL All-League first team offense for his outstanding season.  Matt's 17 touchdown passes, 1724 passing yards and a 90.13 passer rating earned him runner up for Offensive Player of the Year.

Senior running back Thomas Beverly was also selected to the All-League first team offense.  Beverly had another incredible season, one full of awards and record-breaking moments.  Beverly rushed for 16 touchdowns and 1636 yards in 2008, as well as becoming St. John's all-time leading rusher at SUNY Maritime Week 8 against Hayes.

Senior Ryan Collins, who played well at wide receiver, safety and kicker/punter was selected to the All-Leauge team.  Collins amassed the most punt yards in the division, in addition to leading the Cougars in defensive interceptions this year.

Senior center Seth Powers and senior safety Gio Torres were also selected to the All-CHSFL team this season.  Both Seth and Gio were dominant at the line of scrimmage and in the secondary.

Senior Matt Rogan was the first St. John's recipient of the Lt. Ronald Winchester Memorial Unsung Hero Award.  Congratulations!
